First post

This blog is an attempt to start to write in English. As you know, I’ll be moving to the USA soon to study Statistics. There, I’ll need to write a PhD thesis, so it’s mandatory to write in English.

I know I don’t have the same writer skills in English and in Portuguese. But from now I’ll start to practice more to be a better blogger in Shakespeare’s language.

And what do you think of my first post? It seems was wrote by a native speaker or by a Brazilian writer?

by a Brazilian writer. which is not a bad thing at all — you’re Brazilian, not American. it’s pointless to try and sound “native” when you’re not, and that’s what I’ve been advocating for the last eleven years, ever since I started teaching.

XOXO

“It seems was wrote by a native speaker or by a Brazilian writer?”

“Does it seem this was written by a native speaker or a Brazilian one” would sound way more native :-) .

Does “I don’t care” sounds native enough for you?

:-D

tatiana, I’m moving to the east coast. As I told in this post of my other blog, I’ll do a PhD course at Penn State University, in the state of Pennsylvania.

great!!! penn is a well known university…the east coast is nice, although the weather there could use some improvement: ))
if you have the chance definitely come to california to visit. great weather (sunny and fair for the most part), beautiful views, some of the best brains in the US…ok there are earthquakes here and there but hey, even Brazil has been having those lately : (
